Katherine Region

The Katherine Region is an immense and diverse area covering 336,674 square kilometres. Within this region, nearly 18,000 people reside, around 9,000 calling Katherine home. The Katherine township is located 324 kilometres south of Darwin and what a lot of people don't realise, is that it is closer than Darwin to our Top End tourism icons, Kakadu, the Kimberley and the Gulf Region.

Katherine itself is the heart of Australia's 'Tropical Savanna', an area which is environmentally and culturally significant and diverse. Well serviced by bus, plane, hire car and tour operators, it is an easy place to travel to.
